Historic Sites by Kayak Full Day Tour to Sigtuna

Explore the historic sites along the shore of Lake Mälaren on a fun kayak ride. See palaces and churches from the water, walk through an iron age settlement, and tour the ancient town of Sigtuna.

This tour is a combination of some of the Swedish essentials on a full day trip from Stockholm or Uppsala. Paddle kayak on Lake Mälaren, explore historic sites and countryside, experience serene nature and walk through Swedens first medieval capital Sigtuna – today a cozy wooden town with some historic artefacts.

Your guide will meet you in Märsta – a suburb in the north of Stockholm – where you start your experience. After a short drive you will first get full instructions of kayak paddling and start your adventure on the Sweden’s third largest lake. Planned route is approx. 12 km but can vary slightly according to weather conditions and it takes some 3 hours of active paddling but with plenty of stops for sightseeing, walks, lunch and maybe even for a refreshing swim.

You will see the posh baroque Steninge palace, the royal Rosersberg palace with its picturesque park, runestones, hike to the iron age settlement in Runsa and enjoy panoramic views over the lake from its top. The tour rounds up with a guided walk through Sigtuna with ruins of medieval churches, runestones and idyllic wooden architecture. There will be even time for ice cream by the lake before you will head back to the starting point!
